THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF ADVENTURE

news.......
I've finally gotten my act together and loaded the photos from our winter trip to Chamonix in the French Alps. Chamonix had it's best ski season in a long, long time so we did some great skiing! The winter climbing was not quite so successful - but winter climbing is generally a war of attrition so you take what you can get! Take a look and enjoy!

coming trips.......

Plans are already set for an extended ski tour through the New Zealand alps around Mt Cook during July with my girlfriend Laura, as well as couple of weeks winter climbing in the Darran Mtns......and winter is just around the corner here in the NSW backcountry so weekend missions will soon be back on!

My present adventure is working on an oil rig off the west australian coast, which is keeping me busy when trips to the NSW blue mountains for weekend canyoning and climbings trips do not.........

climbing

I discovered climbing in my late teens, via a day of learning to abseil in the Blue Mountains of NSW, I soon became bored of just going down a rope and began learning to climb through who ever would teach me, which brought me mixed success.

I soon began to dream of climbing real mountains and set off to the Swiss Alps for two months, learning to climb alpine style through various mountain guides and instructional courses, it was two months in mountaineering paradise! I returned to Australia at the end of my holiday and immediately set off for Perisher Valley ski resort where I had a job and soon learnt that it was skiing had been missing from my life!

Since learning to ski and climb I have rarely been far from the mountains, I returned to Europe the very next year (mid 2002 through to mid 2004) to live in the climbing and skiing wonderland of Chamonix, France for two years, I then returned to Australia to save for a trip to Peru to climb in the Cordillera Blanca of the Andes(2005) with mates I had climbed with in Chamonix. It was 2009 before I could return to alpine terrain of any sort, due to requiring a Knee re-construction and in early 2007 and working far too much in 2008.

When I'm home here in Australia I like to climb as much as I can and explore the canyons of the Blue Mountains in the hot summer months.

My work as a rope access welder keeps me fit and is close enough to climbing for a living to keep me enjoying going to work..........most of the time anyway!

When I'm not out climbing I entertain myself motorcycling, writing, attempting to learn languages and trying to take mediocre photographs of amazing places.

the blue mountains

The  Blue Mountains are  where most of my weekend climbing and adventures take place. I always look forward to returning here no matter where I have been! The weather can change from a hot summer day to a misty, cold day from one day to the next and it's this constant change which makes the mountains so special!

That and the stunning climbing! The mountains are filled with world class climbing, hikes, great roads for motorcycling and best of all......cafes and pubs for relaxing in after a big out.
